You have been around long enough that I don’t think you are a troll. I think you may have missed the point that Trump and his team are making.
First, Trump has correctly tied the state of the economy to human lives, and has realized that if the economy crashes, we will have many thousands die as a result. For example, here is a link to an article tying austerity in the UK to 130K deaths.
The austerity measures in the UK are nothing compared to what we would face if we continue to shut down the country.
Second, Trump has not said that they would go back to business as usual. He says that people should keep living “distanced” lives to prevent the spread of the virus. Dr. Brix repeatedly spoke of applying modern preventative measures to stopping the disease. With quick testing and tracking, and strong localized response, they are arguing that - as was done in S. Korea - that you can stop the disease without destroying the economy.
Trump is not prioritizing money over lives, he is saying we can have our cake and eat it too, and by doing that is taking the action that will protect the greatest number of lives.
