Day one my wife said she didn’t like Fauci. She’s worked in 3 hospitals with lots of doctors and to quote her, he talks out of the both sides of his mouth, don’t trust him. He sounds like a weaseling bureaucrat to me.
Well he did joke about not being fired the other day.
Maybe POTUS called his bluff.
Having spent 40+ years working in pretty large companies, I’ve gotten pretty good at sniffing out political spin.
Fauci rings my alarm bells big-time in that regard. He’s Director of the NIAID (or whatever the acronym is). You don’t get to that level by NOT being uber-political.
That said, I don’t think he’s over-stating the real risk the country is facing. And I suspect he’s probably been pushing internally for Trump to KEEP everything shut down, and Trump is telling him no - I’m going to open things back up.
Uber-political or not, in this case, I’d agree with Fauci and not Trump.
I do think it’s VERY telling that he’s been absent the past couple of days while Trump goes on his “of COURSE we’re going to open things back up soon, very soon!” tour.
