The number of deaths passed 10,000 on the 20th of March. So we are about meeting the "double every 4 to 5 days" estimates when we pass 20,000 later today. Those estimates that have been made for how fast it spreads for several weeks now. They appear to be correct - at least based on the death rate.
It will be interesting to see if the death total hits 40,000 by the 29th of March. (Is the exponential growth happening?) NOTE: These are worldwide numbers, not USA numbers.
Transitioning from the Worldwide to the USA, a good flubro needs to keep these flu statistics handy. Here I've but them in easy-to-clip table format for you.

Of course one thing everyone is hoping is that the poster child for this being an abnormal and horrible disease and not "just the flu, bro" is Italy. It was looking so good there for a minute. Two days of declining deaths. But, no more:

It would be nice if we could avoid this in the USA. It's one thing to have granny die, it's another to have the Army seize her body and cremate it.
