I can understand Chinese enmity toward Japan, but what has America done to China to deserve such opprobrium?
Does a commie need an excuse to commit evil?

Communism has to have a foil when things do not go well because the state is perfect and cannot be blamed for poor performance.
The CCP has made America their primary foil and this has increased with Trump, who is viewed by many Chinese as a very strong leader comparable with Chairman Xi. Our media and theirs covers the economic competition between our two nations like it is a sporting event so for the average person in China, who only hears state propaganda, it is inevitable that they have a warped view of us. Many FReepers make similar comments about China.
Many in China view their “system” as superior. Many of us see our way of life as superior. Competition is inevitable and there will always be distrust. We are two competing systems - one built on freedom of the individual and one built on the superiority of the state.
If there is any good that can come out of our current predicament, it is my strong hope and desire that we continue to disentangle ourselves from China - a trend started by Trump against all odds and conventional wisdom. I don’t wish any ill will on the Chinese people, but the CCP is the enemy of freedom. Many nations around the world who took the free money as part of the “Belt and Road” initiative will find this out the hard way.
The Chinese government has blamed the US for practically everything that has gone wrong over there. Their propaganda is very successful with the Chinese citizens. For example, Chinese citizens are returning home for medical treatment because they believe the problems have been solved there.
