I only know about
r/K Selection Theory, where K-selected species like FReepers, bears, and wolves outcompete r-selected species like rabbits, bacteria, and Gen Z Spring Breakers, in descending order of intelligence. :)

You're thinking about r/K selection theory.
As long as we live in a time of plenty (food). The r/K selection can focus on r selection (less-nurturing reproduction.) When we're out of the time of plenty food will force us to nurture our young and force us to be close to family and community. The family unit will be far greater then it is today.
You ever wonder why urban ares are liberal rural areas are conservative. This is it.
The weakening of the family unit is what created these problems. Yes, government drove it but we accepted them.

God: Noah, have I explained the K-level to you?
Noah: Are you referring to cubits or meters"

It is the carrying capacity for an environment. This beaver pond has a K of eight, for example. The Earth has a K of about 10 to 20 billion souls, according to several researchers.
If you gave all seven billion folks a 3 bedroom house we would all fit in Texas.
This is not God culling man to save the planet.

I was lucky enough that I did get a few good answers that did answer my question.
