I actually have met Dr. Cantrell from MI, and he is a “strait shooter”, and does not sensationalize. The panic has already been far worse, destructive, and disruptive than necessary, but there is more than a political reason our 45 is taking this seriously.

Most wmd analyst I have worked with have long considered RUS, as likely having the most developed and dynamic bio and chem weapons programs in the world. Additionally, really kicking into high gear toward the end of 2009, Russia and China began developing their strongest (post Mao), mutual and structural defense relationship.
While important segments of CV-19 were colaboritively engineered back in 2010, there is strong evidence it was weaponized in 2015, in Wuhan. Multiple level 4 lab locations and governments knew at least part of this danger, but it was largely covered up within the culturally leftist globalist eye-see. Whether it really worked or not, by the second half of 2015, Moscow was quietly putting in place an attempt to inoc, or strengthen the majority of its population against against CV-19.
Obviously something spooked them, but Russian society necessarily had no clue what they were forced to take.

Not necessarily. There are other scenarios. Like letting the disease run wild and watching the health care system collapse, a couple of million Americans die, and the world economy collapse along with the rest of the disaster.
In that scenario you get both, the disease and the collapse of the world's economy. A much, much worse situation.
