I think stations like this could make a huge comeback nowadays.
And I worked at Full Service Shell stations in the 70s.
Yes, I watch these videos on Youtube frequently. An excellent reminder about the scourge of “incrementalism”. Patient enemies will gladly chip away at a culture, assured of an eventual victory as long as their unwitting victims complacently disregard these gradual changes just as long as they remaain “fat and happy” for the moment. Quite a different world today than the 1950’s.
The invention that was most destructive to the family was television,
and second was the cell phone.
In a way, it is! Our spinning orb was in another place in the galaxy when that training film was produced. The celluloid was carried forward through decades of time and space and ultimately digitized. Then you communicated its existence to us and where to find the window for viewing life on another planet!
Too long to watch. I can remember when they always swept out the front. They could do this because the floor of the car was flat. Clean your windshield and check your oil.
Some would also check the air in your tires while others would only do so if you asked.

As A kid it was fun when our dad would go to the opening of a new full service station. Was like a Hollywood premiere, searchlight and all.
I kept watching, waiting for Ward, June, Wally and Beaver to pull in.
I was in the doctors waiting room a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that most people including old folks were playing on their cell phones.
I had mine too but only checked it every few minutes for messages. This was in a small town in Alabama.
Plus the credit card
The Gulf Station had the names and credit card numbers of regular customers on a board behind the door. Anyone could see them.
ESSO/Standard (now EXXON) were one of the very few chain gas stations that as a matter of corporate policy catered to black customers back then. Most others either didn’t or left it to the station management to decide.
What about “The pill”?
We have a Nine Minute Oil Change place in Palo Alto with service close to that! It’s owned and operated by a really nice Chi see guy. One hard working son of a gun.
You get service like that with the well trained kids at In n Out Burger, too.
Gas stations? They have gotten the worst of all retail establishments.
disregard these gradual changes.....Just about a half hour ago, I came from the grocery store with a bottle of NYQUIL. I had to show ID for it! Didn’t have to last week.

Got PO’ed when they asked for me to check tire pressure of the spare AFTER all four were checked and the under hood crap.
Then peeling of S&H Green stamps from a page of rain soaked stamps in the snow
fun in dead of winter in the North East
