A Bunnlevel man who was the first confirmed case of the coronavirus in Harnett County was taken to the hospital after his condition worsened, his wife said Friday.
Jeff Hensley, 57, was diagnosed with COVID-19 last Friday, and he was being cared for at home by his wife, who is a nurse who worked at Nash UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount in the days before her husband was diagnosed.
Toni Hensley posted to Facebook Thursday night that her husband had trouble breathing and was being given oxygen and other breathing treatments.
Toni Hensley told The Fayetteville Observer that her husband also may have pneumonia.
She said part of his treatment included a malaria drug that health officials are testing to see if it is effective treating the novel coronavirus.
“I’m hoping that will make him turn around,” she said. “Maybe it’ll help him get better.”

The nasty Left is attacking the President for being hopeful about this drug to treat the very ill. He ought to tell those yapping terriers in the press that no one is being forced to take it. They choose whether they want it to risk it.
Some on here are too. The bottom line is these drugs are already being used.
Keep on eye on this one. If the pill doesn’t work they will say “you see, the pill is totally ineffective. In fact it worsened his condition”. It’s possible they may not even give it to him. There’s just too much money riding on the vaccine to trust them on this. Sort of like wondering if your mother’s wedding ring is still on her finger after they put her in the ground.

Unfortunately few humans can either.
If the drug works it will be made available. Whether it will be affordable to the average American family or another case of corporate greed run amok, as with the $600 Epipens, is another matter.
Bayer is donating it.

Epinephrine can be given by other means and epinephrine isn’t itself a patented drug. A small amount can be drawn up manually with the proper needle/syringe to a mark specified and injected, all at a price point many hundreds of dollars less. The epipens just make it convenient and everything is preset.
People could be taught to do it manually, but mistakes can be made with the doses so they would have to be taught. Still, people do insulins all the time so why not epinephrine? Indeed certain concentrations could be given via insulin syringes as the drug is given subcutaneously for anaphylaxis.
Other companies could get FDA permission to sell a syringe/needle epinephrine vial combination and then undercut the EpiPen maker’s price points and charge 15.00 to 40 dollars only. It might force the EpiPen makers to back off on their exorbitant price increases.
We have FREEPERs already bragging about their hoarded stock piles of the drug.
