The BSL4 facility in Wuhan accidentally released a modified SARS virus that had been stolen from a western laboratory. Or maybe it was modified in the Wuhan lab after it was stolen.
Either way, notoriously shoddy construction in China caused this modified virus to be accidentally released from the Wuhan BSL4 facility.
