As of March 20, a total of 150 U.S. residents have died from Covid-19 as of 4:00 PM on March 18, 2020. Among these deaths, 66 occurred in the State of Washington, and at least 35 of them are associated with a single nursing home near Seattle.
To put those figures in perspective:
Roughly 12,469 people in the U.S. died from the swine flu from April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010. Unlike Covid-19, which mainly kills older people with preexisting health problems, 87% of people killed by the swine flu were under the age of 65.
An average of 37,000 people in the U.S. have died from influenza (“the flu”) each year over the past nine years.
About 67,000 people per year in the U.S. die from drug overdoses.
Around 170,000 people per year in the U.S. die from accidents.
About 80% of those with corona virus need no treatment, just rest.
The death rate, which was originally reported to be in the 3.5-5% range has been going down dramatically--roughly between .2% and 1.2%. This is in line with the flu. This is because the denominator is going up. Lots more people with no symptoms have been discovered.
Of course, the concern is that the number of corona virus infections will increase a lot.
Italy has a 10% death rate. Think about that.
And Germany has a 0.2% death rate.

About a quarter had another illness.
Almost NONE of the deaths were to healthy people.
No other country even comes close to Italian death rates, including China where it started as far back as December last year.

Really? So, you have accurate figures regarding the number of infections and number of deaths? You’ve counted all of the infections that the individual shook off and was only slightly ill? Of the deaths, how many were individuals who were in chronically poor health?

There are now 7,102 cases in New York State. There are 1,939 new cases in New York City since yesterday, bringing the total to 4,408.
The total increase in just one day in New York state is 2,950. The hospitalization rate is 18 percent.

3000 since yesterday in NY alone . 3000 is what China was reporting for their entire country per day on average if you could believe their figures.
I'm woke. I believe President Trump. Who are you listening to that would make you post and believe differently than a President who is trying to save the country?
The government should post new infections for the flu (and deaths) along side those of corona to give some perspective.
You can repeat statistics that are out of date as soon as post them and try to make it look like we shouldn't be taking this seriously. OR you can get on board with President Trump and take it seriously and help us to beat it.
