The US confirmed death rate is crashing as cases go up - the reason it was so high was because it got into 2 acute nursing homes in Washington where the average life expectancy was 3-6 months. Outside of Washington, the CONFIRMED (not actual) death rate is less than 1%.

I’ve had a stuffed up head and post nasal drip with subsequent dry cough for 4-5 days now...no fever, no body aches.....allergies or plain old cold, who knows....I’m being careful.....

If the US indeed gets and stays ahead of the curve, great!
Other countries are not and will not be so lucky.

1% may be the figure or it could be a bit lower.
But for a national pandemic that would make the flu mortality rate look like kindergarten.
So getting and staying ahead is the game.

Actually, the vast majority of countries have death rates at or below 1%. STOP the fear mongering. Again, look at
Wikipedia table here. Italy, Iran and Spain are high. China is listed high but they just revised the official #s down to 1.3% today (read the WSJ article). The death rate is due entirely to the age of the population, the rate at which the elderly are infected vs the general population (Italy 55% of the deaths are 80+ despite 10% of pop), and the # of smokers in the population.

I had been overseas for a week on business at the end of February, so I have been paying close attention to my own symptoms, and those of everyone around me, especially those who traveled. I’ve been thinking for the last couple of weeks that there was a fair chance some of us were infected with Covid. Be careful out there, but no need to be too concerned unless symptoms suddenly get worse. From all the info I’ve found, it looks like if you are going to get really sick, it almost always happens between days 7 and 11, so I think that if you still have only mild symptoms after a week you are probably not going to get really sick no matter what the source of infection.

So getting and staying ahead is the game. No, apparently destroying the economy and testing a command and control government is the name of the game. I bet this thing has a 0.1-0.2% death rate when all is said and done and I bet this thing comes back again next fall. We are going to have 25-30 million people furloughed or fired and hundreds of thousands of businesses going bankrupt over this. Pensions will go bust. Wait till the bad unemployment #s start coming out and you start seeing economist forecast -20 to -40% GDP in the second quarter. This will be worse than the great depression in terms of severity in any given year, although at least we have plenty of food. I am fortunately to have $100k liquid in cash + silver/gold + a lot more in all types of investments (real estate, bonds, stocks) but most people being laid off are hourly workers. It is a blood bath. SurveyUSA today survey said 14 million people have already been furloughed or laid off. And state governments, and possibly trump, are about to shut down another 40% of the economy. This is absolute madness.

"this ChiCom virus unchecked will force a shutdown of hospitals and collapse the healthcare system" True. Though it's based on media hysteria on what we know today is equal to or less then the death rate of the common flu. 10% of those TESTED by the common flu dies. With ChiCom virus TESTED it's between 0.8 to 4.5% depending on the country we take the stats from. We also know 86% by one study shows they will never get tested because they don't get any symptoms. Adding that to the statistic the death rate of the ChiCom virus is 0.2% compared to 0.1% of the common flu. Those countries that administered the failed SARS vaccine of 2004 it's far higher numbers.

Yeap it's at most 0.2% based on this report stating 86% of those contracting the virus will never show any symptoms.
This event is called the disease of the publicmind. I never thought I would see the day it would take place. it's worse then I expected.
"Substantial undocumented infection facilitates the rapid dissemination of novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV2) (shows that at least 86% will never get symptoms)

If you think 10% of people with flu die, I don’t have anything to tell you.
You need to start all over with reality. SMH

The author is an idiot; comparing SARS-like viruses to common human coronaviruses HCoV-229E, OC43, NL63 and HKU1. They are all different species and two of the HCOV viruses are of a different genus.
You do realize that all four of those, SARS, MERS, and this Wuhan virus are all in the coronavirus family, yes? In fact, this new one is so similar to SARS, they just took the old virus's name and added a '2' to it? SARS-CoV-2.

I said, "10% of those TESTED for the common flu dies"
This is the fifth time someone miss read that statement. I'm even highlighting the critical part to not miss.
Can you re-read my statement and tell me what it says?
I don't understand why this keep happening.
The media is comparing apples and oranges. I'm not.
They're giving false data. I'm not.
The media uses the term confirmed cases.
which is the same as being tested.

WTF would you think it matters who gets tested for the flu?
That’s just plumb loco. Maybe stick to how many ears of corn in Iowa.
At least it would appear more relevant.

Yes, and I also know that SARSr-CoV, SARS-CoV-2, and MERS-CoV are all in the genus Betacoronavirus. We are fortunate that is not as deadly as SARSr-CoV or MERS-CoV. The four common human coronaviruses are merely annoying to various degrees.

Please don't be upset. I'm trying to understand why this isn't clear to people.
The media is using those that get tested for the coronavirus vs the total number of people that die from the flu.
When the numbers are not equal. It's like testing chickens for salmonella vs not testing the chickens. You're going to get smaller number with those that been tested.
Which changes the death ratios which makes it seem like a large number when it's not.
