My son lives across town in a somewhat remote community. We discussed worse case scenarios last night. Some of the plans we made might be useful for others.
Whether you believe the virus is a real danger, or not, the panic could certainly cause problems for which we should plan.
1) We intend to contact each other every 48 hours. This will alert me in case his power and cell coverage goes out. Otherwise, he would have no way to notify me of such an event.
2) We happen to have a “bugout” location well out of town. We have agreed that if either of us goes to the bugout location without communicating, then we would leave evidence of our departure on the front of our house visible from the street in a way that nobody else would conclude we were gone. That way a drive by to the other person’s property would confirm that they had gone to the bugout location.
3) THIS COULD BE IMPORTANT: Make sure you can raise your garage door in case there is a power outage. Otherwise, you should consider parking outside.
