It’s pretty clear everyone is operating on a worst-case scenario assumption.
Since the data on this is so effed up they likely see that as the only responsible course.
Worst-case is rarely what happens in reality.
the people i talk to are starting to believe that coronavirus is most likely another swine flu in terms of infectiousness and kill power (this time it’s the very old rather thanthe very young that it takes out), and that the fake stream enemedia is hell bent on trying to drive our economy into a depression to try to take out President Trump, and that they don’t care if they destroy our country and destroy the economic lives of tens of millions of us in the mean time in order to do that ... it’s really their only hope to get a mentally failing Joe Biden elected ...

the media doubtless want to do exactly that. whoever wins in november has tremendous power to reshape our economy given all this.
but I am faced with the vision of china (a country that values subjects’ lives differently than western countries are supposed to) shooting its own economy over this. then italy (and iran apparently has a real problem given mass graves).
ultimately, it ends up being an occam’s razor test - are these groups of countries, many mutually adversarial with very different cultures and systems of government, all doing this because this virus appears to them to be very bad news, or mainly for ulterior motives?

the rest see the entire world shutting down as something about american politics.

Yes, in the face of screwed up data the only thing to do is worst case IF you want to be safe as you can.
The problem is finding someone competent enough to un-eff the data while the data is still moving and coming in in inconsistent ways from inconsistent tests and sources. CDC is just one of the outfits that screwed up our response but they are ours and were supposed to be prepared and on top of this.
CDC needs to be radically cleaned out. They aren’t doing a heck of a lot of disease prevention anyway.
