After Gov. John Bel Edwards ordered bars, casinos and other businesses to shut down or curtail operations to fight the rapid spread of the coronavirus in Louisiana, U.S. Rep. Clay Higgins posted a video in which he blasted the governor as out of line and accusing him of sitting in an ivory tower.
Higgins, a Republican from Port Barre, took a stance that is sharply at odds with public health professionals, political leaders and President Donald Trumps administration, which has advised Louisiana and other states to put in severe restrictions to tamp down a rising tide of COVID-19 cases.
Higgins posted the video titled "We're not going to take it anymore" to his official congressional Facebook page on Monday night.
The people that own these businesses, they can make up their own mind. Theyre not stupid, Higgins said in the video, as he walked in front of a strip mall. You cant make their decisions for them because you think you know best. They know how to limit contact and adjust their services to respond to this virus. Its a virus, man. Were not being invaded by the Chinese army. Were being impacted by a Chinese virus. Okay?

Louisiana, I respect our Governor, and I advise everyone to take Coronavirus seriously, exercise prudent measures to protect yourself and your family, and respond to COVID19 with appropriate adjustments to your life in every way.
However... I most certainly oppose overly extreme measures dictated by Executive Gubernatorial proclamation that will 100% injure every Louisiana working class family and citizen. It is beyond comprehension that anyone would burn their home to the ground in order to kill termites.
Louisiana is your State. Your business is your business. Your family is your family.
Im not sure where this thing goes, and I do indeed respect our Governor... but I do know that law abiding citizens, Louisiana families, and Louisiana business owners are not stupid... and BR is not brilliant.
We, the People.
Think about it.
Just got back to the hotel from a walk down Bourbon Street and the Riverwalk a little bit ago.
Dystopian. Nearly deserted. Harrah’s Casino was closed with a padlock and chain, as they don’t have locks on their doors. Heretofore they were open 24/7/365.
This will decimate Louisiana’s tourist industry and the local governments that depend upon the sales tax revenue.
Look for lots of government jobs going away quickly.
I saw the video. This guy is a rockstar. And he’s so Cajun you can smell the gumbo through the monitor.

Notice that this shutdown happened AFTER Mardi Gras, which is a cash cow for the state. Apparently the concern over masses of people being infected didn’t register until the checks wete in the bank.

In 2018, Higgins commented on his Facebook page about an OpEd article by retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens in the New York Times, which called for the repeal of the Second Amendment.[39] Higgins said, “Judge John Paul Stevens, Your Honor, whatever... put together any badass socialists you can muster. As their attorney, make sure they have their affairs in order. Molon Labe.” [40]

I suspect there’ll be some bars/dives that quietly open up here and there, once the payoffs are made to the right politicians.
While there is no hard evidence of a conspiracy there certainly is a lot of interesting coincidences. Trump's strength is found in his economic policies. If the economy goes into a recession, that strength disappears. Democrats and China will benefit from these events, as will the RINO faction of Republicans. Franklin Roosevelt, who was a Democrat, said that there are no coincidences in politics. He was right.

I like this guy.
I’d be careful straying too far into Conspiracyland. I suspect for the godless Left, this is just a convenient crisis that they’re going to exploit to the fullest. But I doubt that they colluded with anyone to actually manufacture the virus itself.
What a buffoon, his humors are clearly out of balance.
