Los Angeles County officials on Monday announced that all bars, gyms and entertainment venues will be closed, and dining in restaurants will be prohibited, as the number of novel coronavirus viruses in the county climbed by another two dozen.

The 25 new COVID-19 cases bring the total in L.A. County to 94, public health officials announced at a news conference. The number of cases is beginning to accelerate, with 41 reported in the past 48 hours.

Amid the increase, the county has taken the drastic step of temporarily shutting down all bars, nightclubs, fitness centers, movie theaters and entertainment venues, as well as limiting restaurants to takeout and delivery only. The order was announced at the news conference by L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger.

It is not just City of Los Angeles any longer...All the restrictions also apply now to all other cities in Los Angeles County...Like Glendale and Burbank...

I have not heard anything similar for Orange County yet...Or Ventura County...

If they were serious about fighting disease, they’d be better off dealing with their homeless problem, as well as the arrival of untested “immigrants” from central America, who are likely harboring a host of parasites and diseases.

The statistics in Singapore, which are thorough, seem to indicate that the virus did not spread in places like these.

Wouldn’t it be true to say that the CoronaVirus is likely to do it’s most damage in metropolitan areas where people are packed together like sardines? You know, Democrat hotspots and sanctuary cities?

Jus’ axin’

“untested immigrants” ....so when COVID 19 erupts in L.A. and two people are rushed into ICU, one is a family man, Christian, tax paying US Citizen , and the other is a former “death hand” Guatemalan, who gets the ventilator?

That is exactly what will happen.

If anyone wants a prime example? Take a look at the great plagues of Europe. London England lost a hell of a lot of people and the one thing that saved that place was a fire.

This is what I can’t understand. LA has 50-60 thousand of homeless people and camps. They are unhealthy, unclean, poor hygiene, have compromised medical issues, lung conditions from smoking, doing drugs, and yet those thousands have not died. This started in January and to date 80 deaths in USA and states are shutting everything down over 80 deaths in 3 months time. What 4500 cases across USA? There should be higher numbers since January. I love how they are calling this COD19 a virus instead of a “flu”. We had Spanish Flu, Asian Flu, SARS, H!N1 all called the flu.

LA reported in 2019 they had 1048 deaths from homeless community. USA 80 deaths from COD19.

They have NOT declared Marshal Law!

So any compliance is voluntary.

I have come to the conclusion after many years here that well over half of freepers think Martial Law is names after some guy named Marshall.

So much for looking up definitions....

I checked last night and the source cited "Marshal Law"......

Clearly "Martial" is correct.

I love how they are calling this COD19 a virus instead of a “flu”. We had Spanish Flu, Asian Flu, SARS, H!N1 all called the flu.

Because people don't know anything. Seriously. Every single one of these is a virus, they are just in different virus families.

The Spanish flu is a flu, and a very similar strain to the swine flu back in 2009ish. Both were strains of the H1N1 influenza.

The Asian flu (big 1957 one, yes?) is also a flu, a strain of H2N2 influenza. An avian flu, similar to the recent H5N1 and H7N9 human outbreaks.

SARS is a coronavirus, and closely related to the MERS epidemic more recently. The current Wuhan virus is also in this family. None of these are influenza viri, and therefore are NOT the flu.

Likewise, the common cold is also about 15% caused by a coronavirus, with the majority of the rest being a rhinovirus (not a flu either).

H#N# are all flus. Flus are boken down mostly into four types: A, B, C, and D. Out of those, D is not known to infect humans, and C is usually so mild it can be ignored. B is not too bad, and only has two types, which are both covered by the flu vaccine. Type A is the massive family, covering all of the H#N# you see in the news. The H and N are the types of proteins on the surface of the virus, with 18 known H types and I think 11 N types. Those various combinations form all the different flus (each does have different strains based on different contents inside the viri), some of which can be very deadly (over 50% mortality), whereas some are only capable of infecting birds or dogs or pigs or other, and don't even affect humans.
