This is going to backfire by causing migrations of people across state lines to obtain their booze. Unbelievably dumb. The last thing you want to do is to encourage people to go out and travel. Let people have their booze and they’ll stay home and get drunk instead.

This is a triple whammy - (a) PA Gov Dumbdemf---stick has just encouraged panic travel and waved the checkered flag, (b) they'll get drunk in Ohio and drive back to Pennsyltucky (the part of PA we love, btw), and (c) those without wheels or access will go into DTs, head for the hospital and be the single most vulnerable vector there. Big mistake.

When I was still living up in Massachusetts a few years back, they tried imposing a sales tax on liquor. As MA is a small state, it is easy for most residents to drive up to NH. Therefore, the NH liquor stores along the border got slammed and did an incredible amount of business. Meanwhile, the MA liquor stores saw up to a 50% decline in business.
That tax didn't last very long. One of the very rare times a tax in Massachusetts got rolled back.
