Amusing comment, I grew up in far West Texas and far South Louisiana, Lafourche Parish.
In those bars in West Texas and South Louisiana about 1/4 of the patrons would be old codgers like myself today. I was young in those bars once years ago. Those old guys will not stay home unless you put a gun in their face. They have lived their life and kinda say, “what the hell.” Not that I approve but that is reality. The young are not at great risk, it is old codgers such as I that are.
Due to my medical background I am smart enough to stay at home with one exception Wednesday March 18th. We have bible study on Wednesday. Most of us are between 60 to 80 years old. We are high risk for this disease. Last Wednesday I spoke briefly to our group and it was not heeded. I do know of which I speak.
This Wednesday I will speak again and give them statistical knowledge of the dangers of our group meeting until this is over. Our group is small but old. Statistically if one of us were infected we could lose 1 or 2 of our group. This is an unacceptable risk.
The risk to those below 60 is not great and I do not worry about this. I worry about the old and those with other medical problems and in particular repository problems or immune deficiency.
Another thing to be considered of great importance is many are on immune depressants for rheumatoid arthritis and those that have received transplants. Those with rheumatoid arthritis would be wise to stop therapy until this thing is over based on their physicians advice.
Those receiving immune suppressants for transplants must not stop, least they suffer tissue rejection.
