There is a story from Australia that they have found two drugs completely eradicate he virus supposedly- and one of the drugs was an older HIV drug- not sure if it’s the same one in this thread or not- if so- they say hte drugs have been out a long time are are ‘very well tolerated’- the article below does not mention what the drug is though-

Yes, the tests were done IN-VITRO though.
This work was done by a team headed by Professor David Paterson, director of the University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research and infectious disease physician at the RBWH
The hopeful sign is this ( from the article in the link you showed ):
“There have already been patients treated with these in Australia and there’s been successful outcomes but it hasn’t been done in a controlled or a comparative way,” Prof Paterson said.
The drugs would be given orally, as tablets.
