Onions and garlic have antibiotic properties, not antiviral ones.

They strengthen the immune system. And the virus leave you vulnerable to other infections, including bacterial infections.

patients with viral pneumonia are also at risk of developing secondary infections, so they would also be treated with anti-viral medication and antibiotics.
