In a press conference held on Sunday afternoon, California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that all restaurants will have their occupancy levels cut in half and all bars will be closed to stop the coronavirus spread.
Newsom made the first announcement that all bars, night clubs, wineries and brew pubs are non-essential locations and will shut down. The Governor then stated that restaurants are a more nuanced issue and that the state doesnt believe they require a total closure at this time. However, all restaurants occupancy levels will be cut in half, and patrons will be required to socially distance themselves in dining areas.
This message comes days after the governor banned all gatherings in California over 250 people. That being said, the governor did not address the closing of movie theaters in this announcement.
During the conference, Newsom said that 335 people have tested positive for coronavirus in California. The new tally of positive tests marks a 14 percent increase from yesterday. There have been six deaths from the virus in the state, with the sixth taking place in San Mateo county, where 32 cases have been recorded.
The announcement comes two days after President Trump declared a national state of emergency over the coronavirus pandemic and the U.S. travel ban was extended to include the U.K. and Ireland. The North American box office took a brutal hit this weekend after several theater chains limited their capacity to allow for social distancing. Overall, the box office hit a 22-year low point.
On Saturday, France also took precautions to limit the spread of coronavirus. The country closed all movie theaters, restaurants and non-essential stores. Places like pharmacies, grocery stores, gas stations, banks and newspaper stands still remain open.

Is it just me or does there seem to be a pattern with regards to the governors that are leading this?
Dang .... I need a drink !
My own non-medical take is that it’s important to get outdoors for at least an hour per day.
Newsom also urged that people over the age of 65 and people with chronic health issues stay indoors.
First Illinois, now California. Democrat governors trying their best to strangle the economy.
All it takes is one to do something and everybody else quickly does the same.
Ahhhh, take it away! A photo of the demon! Take away my beer and scotch? Begone demon!!
Ya can you imagine?? Cops stopping older folks on the street and carding them. They just keep pushing to see how far they can play this.
Prohibition II.
Old people don’t use condoms.
I feel this virus has already been in our country since December and MANY people thought they had the flu and have recovered!!! This has become BEYOND RIDICULOUS!!! Everyday they are shutting down something else GIVE ME A DAMN BREAK!!!
If you are under age 65 it's ok as long as you wash your hands first. Otherwise, people over 65 who poop on the streets must poop inside and people over 65 who sodomize each other must do inside. Gay bath houses are exempt from overcrowding. These are just common sense rules for everyone.
Never let a crisis go to waste!
“Welcome to the Soviet Union.”
Complete with lines for toilet paper and empty store shelves.
“Cheered on here by half of FearRepublic. My patience is almost gone.”
I hear ya. I am about to pull my hair out.
We went to our favorite restaurant for lunch, but ordered take-out to eat at home. Empty restaurant, they're hurting for sit-downs but doing well on take-outs. Says they have max occupancy of 55 so they're open. But I don't think they heard about halving the occupancy requirements. We tipped them extra even though it was a take-out.
But your medical take is common sense, and that is forbidden by Dear Leader Newman.
Do ALL of you realize what the hell the MSM has been able to accomplish here this is VERY FRIGHTENING much more frightening than a damned virus!! Everyone NEEDS TO WAKE THE HELL UP and start pushing back!!!
