No, it’s not. Asking 65+ to self isolate was the right call but the rest could have taken less drastic action like half the # of normal customers. We are going to have a global depression (not recession) in the next two months if this keeps up much longer. How many restaurants, hotels, airlines, retail stores, etc can withstand a 50-100% drop in revenue for a few months? Hint: Not many. And you are talking 10+ million of jobs, and that’s not counting the domino effects (those losing their jobs stop spending, default on debt, stocks collapse to lower than 2009 etc)

I’m sorry. Stop worrying about the economy in the short term. It’ll be fine in the long run. Shutdowns work. Lodi, Italy, shut down on 2/23. Bergamo waited until 3/8. Witness the difference...

The threat of a catastrophic depression brought on by all this media-driven hysteria scares me far more than does the virus.
