Lets dissect what you have said: Your BIL has it — how long, is he tested, or is this a guess on your behalf. Recalling that in South Korea, which our numbers are tracking, only 4% of tests are positive meaning that 96% of illness are other respiratory diseases.
How long as he had it? It sounds like he is not lying on a vent in the ICU — as I assume you would have said that. The assumption that he apparently has it is exactly what is driving the panic. I routinely test my patient for Influenza A/B, rhinovirus, parainfluenza, and multiple other infectious respiratory disease and numerous of those turn positive and the clinical course is exactly the same. Why this panic? Why now? What is different? No one can answer that question.
