It is not a matter of comparing against the entire population, it is really a matter of comparing against those people who really get sick enough to require treatment, versus those who die at that point. Those statistics are devastating. Compare against the entire population if you want to dismiss and ignore everything. Even by the administrations explanations, the mortality rate is 10 times or more higher. And with older age groups even here. Yes, that is an abstract statistics for most people but should be sobering to anybody thats willing to think about it in a non-political way.
There is some merit to what you are saying, but the flu killed dozens of times as many vulnerable people in this area in the 2017 to 2018 season as this is likely to do even if things escalate dramatically. This is obviously not something to be trifled with but the hype on this is spectacular and the panic and fear is completely out of proportion to the actual risks.
There are people in this world who just love scaring themselves. Thats why Hollywood keeps producing those horror films.
The testing plan didnt magically appear. Everyone acts like it was decided the night before it was announced. Frankly after the Swine flea epidemic the government should have had plans for this and it shouldnt have been thrown into Trump to reinvent the wheel, but with democrats in charge its no wonder the responsible decisions fell to the floor.
