My dog, part lab, was born with three legs and a short catcher’s mitt -like limb where leg 4 should have been. I took him because I hoped he would be easier to keep up with on walks. At first, he was not slowed down at all by just 3 legs. He could do everything any other dog could do, with the addition of being able to catch and carry a ball in his mitt. But the way he had to hold his body to balance on three legs eventually took its toll and slowed him down every time a weather front blew through, like an old man.
