Coronavirus “cluster” at Uptown New Orleans retirement home growing bigger, authorities respond

The tally of elderly residents reported positive for COVID-19 reached nine at the Lambeth House retirement home in Uptown New Orleans on Friday, more than doubling over a day even as test results on more than a dozen other residents awaited.

Independent-living residents normally come and go as they please, and as recently as Thursday, some continued their excursions off the gated grounds — for exercise, groceries, even haircuts, said the frustrated son of one elderly resident.
