Tomorrow (friend) has been asked to be part of a meeting for (hospital) being Chief or Surgery to ultimately decide which surgeries are emergent and which are more elective and the hospital will cease what isnt emergent with the uprising in this pandemic. This is unprecedented in his or my lifetime. While doing this to keep our community safe it doesnt come with cost. A total reduction in staff, their incomes and anesthesia & surgery staff in huge reductions and around a 40% reduction in income in most surgeons with families.
Very scary
In other words this local hospital is cutting costs right now and putting off surgeries in order to prepare for what they think will be a huge influx of pandemic patients in the very near future.
the local hospitals need to work together. This one and that one, you do knee replacements, hernias and kidney stones. Over there, you’re an ICU hospital. Waive practicing privilege for visiting doctors. Share the burden and pay per originating hospital.
