There are two major differences with the Wuhan corona virus:

1. Medical: It's a different type of contagious flu virus than all the previous contagious flu viruses

2. Social: The unparalled fear and resulting hysteria is due to one thing: social media which was no where near as omnipresent as it is today during all the previous contagious flu outbreaks in the history of the world.
