Curl up under a sunny window with a good book. And a cat.Home health care professionals recommend that shut-ins who can't get out sit with an arm in front of a window, preferably facing south or towards the sun at whatever time of day that is, for as little as an hour a day. Even this little bit greatly improves the body's production of Vitamin D.

That will be (somewhat) effective only if the window is open. Glass blocks the UV rays necessary to stimulate Vitamin D production.

Even this little bit greatly improves the body's production of Vitamin D. That depends on what your location is and what season it is. In the NE little is gained by even outside exposure to the sun. And,
Vitamin D is produced by the body when the skin is hit by UVB rays, with 7-dehydrocholesterol being the resulting chemical. But most glass windows block this wavelength meaning you can't reap the health benefits. -https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/features/can-you-get-a-tan-and-absorb-vitamin-d-through-a-window-a6895626.html

One needs UVB for vitamin D production and that is filtered out by windows and glass.
Best get direct sunlight.
And the heck with skin cancer issues these says.
That’s the least of my worries.
