Doesn’t matter if the medical stuff is sanctioned or not, Europe, Iran, the US Iran lobby, the Norks, and China are still going to pretend the virus is somehow worse because of sanctions ...not because they care about sick people [they don’t] but because it gives the Europeans an excuse not to renew sanctions.
The hype about the virus is an effort to Katrina-ize it so it can be used to justify normalization with Iran.
And of course these interests knew Trump would recognize the hype for what it is and not treat the disease seriously at which point they’d bash him for being callous and uncaring all the way to election day.... but instead he’s treating it as if it is everything it’s advertised to be, calling for all efforts and even going beyond the call of duty to beat it, so their plan A has failed and worse, they can’t really argue against his proposed measures because they have driven the hyperventilating in the first place and to argue against his response to treat it as a pandemic worse than 1918 is to argue against their own shrill storyline. So, they’re working on a Plan B now. Eventually they’ll get to Plan X and blame him for excessive reaction to it just like they eventually got around to a hail Mary pass of blaming Bush for excessive reaction to the Iraqi WMD that they’d hyped for years; but for now they’re still squirming and holding the corona-ball not knowing what play to make. They miscalculated that Trump would react to this in the same way Obama did to SARS and ebola. Instead he can treat it as the Black Plague and the US can certainly use it as practice for such.
Iran is desperate enough to try anything at this point so we can never be too careful.
