Runs on supplies

Is anyone seeing runs on supplies like toilet paper, bleach, etc.?

I was at the grocery store yesterday the TP aisle was pretty much cleared out. Most household cleaning supplies were available although bleach was limited.

Believe it or not hand soap/sanitizer was available in limited quantities.

Rest of groceries looked to be good.

We have a guy at work that bought about a 6 month supply. Panic buying is not good.

Sometimes people just buy stuff because an article suggested it was a good idea.

The same people were buying Salt in 10 pound bags. I guess if you are curing a ham that would be needed....But these folks did not look like they had hogs at home.

If they’ve got the space, I can’t really question that prep (the salt).

It literally lasts forever if kept dry.

YOu can also use it to make pickles or other things.

Ditto the 50lb bag of sugar. I buy that once a year and use it to make hummingbird food.

YMMV, of course.

Was at Walmart a few days ago. Quiet. The usual Walmartian shenanigans, but no panic-buying/riots.

Advised the 8 or so in my line at the checkout to make sure they had plenty of ammo and sh*t tickets. Because the Apocalypse is nigh.

It appears my humor is an acquired taste . . .

Even if CV did cause digestive system problems I don’t believe the average person knows that. According to the symptom charts floating around it is possible but rare.

My guess is that what most people call “the flu” isn’t the flu at all. Its usually an enterovirus, food poisoning, something similar that includes...explosive events.

We would all need lots of toilet paper if a killer comet was heading our way.

If I’m stuck in the house for a month...I want a quality 2-ply to keep me company.

Yea I guess you're all correct. I'm just used to my wife buying one of those 30 packs when she goes to Costco every third week, we're good for at least a month.

I have about 1/2 of the gallon that I bought about 4 years ago left. Assuming that the alcohol has at least partially evaporated, I would think that adding some high proof alcohol and thoroughly mixing it will restore its potency.

Thanks for the info about the alcohol evaporating - it could save anyone reading it a lot of misery later.

“30 pack”

That’s what we buy. If I overbuy, it’s money in the bank if we don’t need it during this event.

We went to the local Costco last week. (Rockwall, TX) Seemed a little busier than usual, but we didn't notice anything out of stock. Course it wasn't that time of the month for us to buy more TP, but I think they still had a bunch. Probably get some next time we go, just in case they do start running out for when we do need to stock up. We did see one guy that had a cart full of water bottles. probably 15 or 20 of the 24-48 packs of 'em.

Went by Tom Thumb after, for all our non-bulk purchases. Perfectly normal, no one buying out anything there.

I told her there is a janitorial supply house right down the road from her hubby’s shop/biz that I’m sure has plenty but they’ll have to buy a case. lol For years I bought my tp by the commercial case. I don’t do that anymore but I still buy at least 10 double roll 12 packs at a time so I’m stocked.

Ouch. I once got a pack of the commercial TP for free cause one of the places I worked at was tossing a bunch of 'em for some reason. Single-ply, crappiest (metaphorically) TP I've ever had in my house. Even free I don't think it was worth it :/

With proper storage bleached flour lasts years. Our ancestors knew how to make Hardtac one of the most durable dry foods of all time. Sailors and Armies crossed oceans and conquered continents with it as a primary ration. Take 5 minutes and open up some history. Cheers

“ Hardtac one of the most durable dry foods of all time”

Also makes a great building material.—hard as a rock, and about as tasty!

tp will never go bad unless you store it where mice can get into it.....I also buy extra foil/wax paper etc....anything that you will eventually use and never go bad is a good thing..
