Thank you. I did. It's interesting to watch the week-by-week animation for this and previous years. Some years flu is practically over by February, other years it lingers into August. Last year it was mostly done by mid-May. It will be interesting to see what happens this year.
I called my 90-year-old dad yesterday. Since I had last talked with him 10 days ago, he had had the flu, and had basically recovered. He didn't seem to be at all concerned about coronavirus, and was wondering when I was going to get on a plane to come visit him. (With $90 fares between Phoenix and Vancouver, it's tempting, but I'm still clearing out our Tempe house to sell it.)
It pays to take the opportunity to visit family - they don’t last forever, unfortunately. Maybe a 2 or 3 day trip.
I regret not taking more time to see my parents over the years, after they moved to FL, and I, to TN. They are both since gone, leaving only the memories.
Go see your Dad while he is still around. I would not want you to regret not going.
One of the reasons I'm so difficult to get along with is my tendency to point out other peoples' mistakes BEFORE they make them. Sort of "aww, you know you're gonna kick yourself in the ass if you don't go now" stuff.
Personal experience (Grampa, I'm still sorry! Dad, not so much!) has taught me a few things.
Your dad's 90? that's frikken awesome! You do know you can gown up ala isolation and be in the same room with him, right?
Oh, wait. Is he coming to your Naturalization (we are so having a party for you here!) ceremony? hmmmm....
