Apparently the writer doesn’t know the Spock Live Long and Prosper sign is actually a Jewish blessing gesture.

At my synagogue, the adjustments were to wash hands more often, to encourage those who are sick and possibly contagious to stay home, to give to the needy, to pray and to study with more devotion. The Megilla reading on Purim had a record turnout.

We had a great time hearing the reading of the Megillah during the evening service. Someone was playing the trombone on the men's side, every time the evil villain Haman's name was mentioned. I blew a coach's whistle. Other people shook boxes of cereal, shook noisemakers called gregors, or just booed. Virtually everyone wore a costume, as is customary. This year, I was a clownfish.

Coronavirus was not mentioned, nor did it seem to play any role. Bathrooms were well equipped with soap and paper towels, and there were pamphlets on a table near the door about coronavirus precautions. That's about it.

Of course you can’t use a computer on Shabbat, but never mind.
