I’m still not sure what to make of all this.
On FR, I seen the gamut of “It’s just the flu” all the way up to “We’re really screwed”.
I’ve heard every possible idea of how to treat it from strong whiskey all the way up to massive doses of Vitamin C, D and even zinc.
I’ve heard every possible thing about containing or mitigating the virus from “It’s gonna happen - we can’t do anything about it” all the way up to FULL QUARANTINE - CLOSE THE BORDERS.
I’ve heard everything from “Anyone under 40 should be fine” to “Yeah, everyone is so screwed”.
I’ve heard everything from “Aw, we’ll get one bad round of it and then we’re done” all the way up to “This is gonna last months and months”
I’ve heard everything from “Trump’s doing what he can regarding this” all the way up to “This is gonna cost him his re-election”.
I’ve tried to sort thru it and make reasonable precautions at home. Stocked up on some extra food. No, not two months worth. More like several weeks worth. Bought some Clorox. Am trying to avoid crowds and maintain six feet distance from others. Am trying not to touch my face. Am trying to wash my hands more than usual.
Just having way too many problems trying to take in and synthesize all the info I see on here.
The Five Stages of WuFlu
Denial:
- It is no worse than the flu
- Only Asians get it
- Our healthcare is just so much better
Anger:
- The CDC is blowing it
- Trump should have shut down all flights
- I can’t believe they value stocks more than life
Bargaining:
- If I get five more rolls of toilet paper I will be okay
- Teleworking and online classes will keep us safe
- But I needed to complete my preps anyway
Depression:
- I can’t believe things are this screwed up, it’s only getting worse
- It’s no use, we are going to be just like Italy
- Don’t talk to me, Coachella was the only bright spot in my life
Acceptance:
- Once you get it you’ll have immunity so there is that
- Sure it’s going to be rough for a while but things will work out, hopefully
- I sure miss (insert here) (grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, wife, husband, brother, sister, son, daughter, friend)
You can pick any stage you’d like. As the psychologists say, they are all valid.
Buy more food and ammo, and the rest of what you are doing is what you should be doing.
