I’m primarily a lurker, but judging from what I’ve been reading on this site the last few months as well as observing reaction among friends, family, etc. I’d say:
STEM people= tend to be risk averse
business people= tend to be speculative (i.e. no risk, no reward)
And I would say Trump is definitely a high risk / high stakes type of person. Unfortunately, he may be gambling with our lives.
I think that is one reason why there seems to be a polar opposite response to the Wuhan virus on FR. The STEM people (who fit the ‘classic’ non-political definition of conservative) are more likely to take this thing seriously and preparing as best as possible. The CAPITALIST/business people (gamblers, entrepreneurs, day traders, etc) are more likely to be the FLU BROS that are downplaying it because they LIVE for risk.
