How Serious Is the Coronavirus?
I was just watching that last night. This is a must-see.
That Joe Rogan interview was excellent.
Italy seems hard hit but Italians are very affectionate people. Lots of touching. Germans and Brits not so much. It could however hit the refugee populations hard.
I lobbied here at work for sending everyone home who can work from home. There are lots of us who do it already. By sending them home, you lessen the chances of infection going through the building/university. Although it doesn’t pertain to us so much, some people can’t work from home. Every body you take out of the building reduces the possibility of a major problem.
Michael Osterholm stated Italy is seeing a lot of folks in their 40s. We need to stop thinking this an old person disease.
They think obese is a risk factor just like smoking. 40% of the USA is classified as Obese.
Michael Osterholm stated this is going to be with use for a while. It is not going to show and then leave. Could be around for awhile.
Michael Osterholm if you are older than 55 with underlining heath problems you do not want to be in the public spaces. I think that is 75% of people over 55.
Kids will be carriers without being sick they will bring it home from school. They do not know why.
Only thing we can do to slow this down is to limit contacts.
Good to know Joe is on it. He reaches a lot of people
According to Michael Osterholm stated: Coronavirus are not seasonal were they go away in the summer. The past Coronavirus they got control of the virus with infection control. This one is not going away tomorrow.
Very good follow-up here (good discussion of sanitizers, handwashing, and masks):

Has anyone asked the taskforce when the US will have enough N95 masks for not only professional healthcare workers, but people like me with high risk family members?
Plus you gotta oversupply the hoarders, somehow...
