ITALY
All the “12 mayors of Lombardy have asked me to turn to the government to ask for a further tightening of the measures”: the president of Lombardy Attilio Fontana, live on SkyTg24, explained that these are “hypotheses that we will present to the government” today. According to Fontana, “non-essential commercial activities” and “local public transport and business activities that can be closed should be closed.”
We must “avoid any movement” and “any form of gathering is forbidden” even outdoors. With these two rules, Italy, from 10 March to 3 April 2020, becomes a “protected area”: ;”staying at home” is imperative. Giuseppe Conte signs a new dpcm that extends to all the national territory the strong limitations that had been introduced on March 8 for Lombardy and 14 provinces of Northern Italy.
Wow, we knew it was coming. They have been hinting at this the last 4-5 briefings.
Bet he’s going to lock it down.
Well, that escalated, quickly.
:(
They went from denial to surrender in two weeks.
Cuomo knows this thing is his big chance to become prominent.
NYC subways next?
There is not a decline in cases, there is a decline in the number of increases in the cases.
_Big_ difference.
Bet hes going to lock it down.
Doesn’t sound like it
all schools to close
no big gatherings
GEORGIA - some new details
Two other Georgia school systems told parents that employees had gone into self-quarantine after potential contact.
In Paulding County, west of Atlanta, parents of students at McGarity Elementary in Hiram were warned Monday that an employee is in self-quarantine after contact with someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19. Officials said they fumigated the school Sunday.
The Harris County school district, just north of Columbus, announced Tuesday that a middle school teacher had made contact with U.S. Rep. Doug Collins, who has self-quarantined because of potential exposure. Collins is seeking a U.S. Senate seat and visited Columbus on Saturday for a Republican Party headquarters opening. About 250 people were at that event, WRBL-TV reported.
Wow....well, like one of the good docs said, yesterday (was it Gottleib?), we are past the point of containment....mitigation is our only hope....something to that effect.
Gave up, is right.
Subways would be a tough call..but it may come to it...
Giving up does not just affect the Sacramento area.
Since that is the location of the legislature they are enabling spread throughout the state.
That is beyond dumb...
Yep...he’s taking the Rahm Emmanuel approach....never let a crisis...well, you know the rest.
On the other hand....when dealing with the country’s largest populated area....an utmost abundance of caution must be taken.
Releasing folks after 7 days is a _very_ high risk gamble.
This virus defeats everyone who plays it safe, cuts corners, makes optimistic assumptions, and engages in half measures.
This particularly affects health care workers—they _must_ be protected so they can help others. There is no room for error there.
We _know_ that.
For those who don’t have the link, this is the best data source for US numbers:
The CDC is not tracking it—but fortunately one citizen is doing their job for them.
NEW YORK lockdown:
@NYGovCuomo ? is announcing a containment area in New Rochelle, which has a cluster of positive COVID-19 cases National guard will be delivering food to homes, Cuomo says. Standby for more. Quarantine Zone in NY state.
They’ve already advised against using subways, if at all possible.
Now, how feasible is that, in NYC?
They say the cars are being disinfected, on a regular basis.
How?
The vid I saw, last night, showed workers in gloves ONLY, using swiffer type mops on the ceiling of the car, and a spray bottle of solution to clean the ticket kiosk...again, wearing gloves only.
Great post—and the first discussion I have seen on how overweight Americans are.
Being overweight _is_ going to be discovered to be one of those “underlying conditions” that so many think they don’t have.
