Lush was great.
Grunge was all about depression and slef pity, far as i could tell from the mush sound and lyrics.
Their patron saint was a heroin addict, after all.
Whoa! Pearl Jam, meaning semen.. shot their wad and gone flaccid it seems. : P
They're working on it:
Kurt Cobain (Nirvana, suicide by shotgun)
Layne Staley (Alice in Chains, heroin overdose)
Mike Starr (Alice in Chains, heroin overdose)
Chris Cornell (Soundgarten, suicide by hanging)
Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots, drug overdose)
Bradley Nowell (Sublime, drug overdose)
Shannon Hoon (Blind Melon, drug overdose)
As an aside, I have over 5,000 albums and not one is a Pearl Jam album. Even among the general suck of grunge, they suck particularly.
I saw AIC on their 2010 tour in support of Black Gives Way to Blue “comeback” tour. It was one of the best shows I ever saw. DuVall is an excellent frontman - he sounds a like like Staley AND he’s not drugged out all the time AND he plays guitar. Jerry Cantrell is the real deal, and HE should have inducted Heart into the Rock Hall.
“Lush was great.”

Yeah, they were. Also liked Mazzy Star, Cowboy Junkies and - later on - Broadcast. Tho, Broadcast is as much electronic as dreampop:

The best Seattle band of that era was (not grunge) Queensryche...by far.
Pearl Jam are still touring? Who knew?
I honestly didn’t even know they were still around and doing the Dick Clark’s Oldies thing.
