Praying for you Laz. I had a detached retina in the fall of 2018, had the surgery to reattach, then it re-detached just before Christmas 2018. Had it reattached again with a buckle and some silicone oil, which needs to be drained. Going in for that this Friday. Its scary as hell, the prospect of permanently losing my eyesight in my right eye if it re-detaches again. I do fairly well with just using my good eye, but the depth perception is not great. I am an artist and it has cramped my style a bit. I am writing this to let you know the eye surgery is really no big deal, its nothing like I thought it would be, and nothing to worry about. Im so happy to hear you have most likely not done permanent damage, and be thankful we dont have socialized medicine. Theyre gonna fix you right up. Please change your diet though. No sugars or carbs, or minimal anyway. Get a lot of exercise. Take herbs and supplements that support eye health. /lecture off.
Vitamin C and Vitamin E are important for tissue healing. Animals our size make their own Vitamin C in the amount of 2 to 4 grams a day. That is 2,000 to 4,000 milligrams a day. It should be spread out over 3 or 4 times as body eliminates it in 5 or 6 hours. I have been taking 3 to 6 grams of C and 400 IU of E for over 45 years. Never needed the vein surgery that my mother needed, have almost no colds for many years (Covid-19 treatment?), and heart seems to be in fine shape. I was developing cataracts several years ago but adjusted my supplements to include high doses of Astaxanthine and Lutien and now my vision is getting better. For any health problem, Google: “(name of problem) nutrition and supplements to help.” There is a lot of information out there. Just read several sites, not only one.
