They should get rid of drivers’ licences. Where in the constitution does it say the government is the final authority whether I can drive? It’s presumptive and an arbetrary usurpation of rights.
OK, I'm playing devils' advocate here, not try to start a fight. You can drive as much and as fast as you want on private property and the law can;t do anything about it. Once you go on to a public road, you enter a social contract with the community, and there for come under the jurisdiction of community laws regarding public safety, hence the justification for having a drivers license. It shows you have competency (well it's supposed to show, at least) and understand the social contract you've entered.
Now if you want to discuss fees; I'll go get my pitchfork and limber up so we can storm the barricades together :-)
Most of us view anarchy and chaos with skepticism.
I don’t much care for the licensing that seems to be quite liberally issued to folks who are incompetent handling guided missiles on our roadways, BUT, I want to be able to identify just WHO we’re dealing with in any situation where responsibility can be an issue. Therefore, I feel proper identification documents are a necessity, be it for liability situations, voting in our elections, just who is allowed to be on what property in questions of financial obligations, etc.
