And then you said
What would happen if the face masks from China were infected with the virus?
To which I reply (warning, it's long): Had to make an unscheduled family doc appointment yesterday. Got a hella cough, low oxygen, typical cold/flu symptoms.
I hang my jacket on the jacket-hanger-on thing, go to the desk to register. Being a good little doobie, I'm looking for the masks (I don't usually glove and mask up, I just wash my hands a lot). Register lady was just pulling the box back into her window, so SHE COULD SHUT THE WINDOW IN MY FACE. Welp, I get it. She must seem 100's of sick folks every day...but I wanted a mask, dammit. So I asked if I could have one, she said "sure" and took one out of the box. I smiled and took the box away from her, saying I believed in self-serve, laughing.I was trying to see on the box where the masks were made, but I didn't want to trigger her. She was fine with that.
I get the mask and step away. Why was I being so insistent? Because I'm pretty sure the reason I got sick was I had been to this doctor's office on last Wednesday. I never get sick from there (chemo makes my immune system nonexistent and I go there monthly, same as the poison palace...errr...the chemo infusion joint), but I'm always careful to use my coat sleeves for door handles, paper towels for all else. So, yesterday I decided to go all in and use a mask.
Masks make your glasses fog up, instantly. There's probably a right way to do it, but the last time I worked in a sterile isolation unit, I didn't have these dang glasses.
My nurse asked if "we" could do a flu test. I said sure, better safe than sorry. Asked her what the big deal was, cos she kept asking me, even tho I said yes. "Well, t might be a bit uncomfortable", as she whips out about an 8" Q-tip. I said no big deal...unless...She started laughing and said "tip your head back and try to keep still!" Damn, I don't know how she managed to laugh at me and keep the q-tip out of my brain! I didn't hurt, it tickled in an unpleasant way.
Last para, promise. Nope, I don't know what kind of flu it was testing for. And nope, I don't know if I passed or failed. And nope, I'm not afraid of no stupid Chinese flu. Whatever happens, happens. And today I feel just as dreadful as I did yesterday
eeesh. flu? let us know!
I prescribe lots of brandy and go to bed so you don’t fall down drinking the brandy.
Sorry you feel sick. Around here people have had some kind of respiratory crap for months. I feel as though I’ve been 1/2 sick for months.
I hope you get better, blu. Will say a prayer for you.

Get better my friend...I will say an extra prayer for you today...it’s the pits when you feel bad and it seems like ‘nobody cares’...
We care, I care so you take care and drink that bottle of rum ONLY if you have gone to the bathroom first, and don’t get out of bed until your sober!!! (That wall is a SOB)
