The Open Borders Trap

In his recent book, “Immigration Reform,” Mr. Kamasaki, who has worked for migrant rights for nearly 40 years, advises other progressives to moderate their tone — to seek bipartisan compromise, avoid assuming all opponents are racist, and question whether “unfettered immigration is necessarily in their community’s interest.”

Buried deep In this NYTimes story seems to be the notion that the already-here illegals are wanting the borders shut dow or at least tightened up. Interesting read.

Fits right in with the dearth of questions about immigration policy in all but, I think, the first Democrat primary debate.

Any honest discussion of Democrat immigration stances will not win them votes among most independents.

I once asked a leading scholar of immigration what benefits it had brought America, beyond good food and affordable child care.

“Don’t underestimate the value of good food and child care,” he replied.

It was partly a quip — an acknowledgment that supporters of immigration hadn’t sufficiently explained its benefits and that some of those benefits privilege elites.

Bringing in high skilled, high valued immigrants will raise standards. Unrestricted immigration will be destructive in the long run. Think of slavery. Cheap labor provides higher profits in the short term but at some point the slaves will become angry being slaves. We're seeing that with Hispanics now. They're claiming the same exploitation blacks and they're now demanding 'restorative justice' via PC and political power.

But if immigration advocates really cared about immigrants they should focus their efforts on the problems that are forcing people to flee their home nations. The problem is OVER THERE, not here.

Let’s get it real, America!

This should be part of a Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement bill, missing since 1986 ONE TIME amnesty. The List of Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, missing since 1986 goes like this -

1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural parents);
5) end work visas;
6) 10-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (40 years to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population);
7) Set up an illegal aliens’ victim restitution fund.

Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport, and remove colonizadors from our welfare rolls.
