Grand Princess is a San Francisco based ship. She just completed port calls on the islands of Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii. Hawaii better get their stuff together FAST. Hawaiian tourism will be CRUSHED if there is any sort of outbreak there. My sister is currently on an almost identical cruise, departed San Diego Sunday.
has this been posted yet? from Feb 18? I haven’t found follow-on articles about their China data, just Gilead looking to do trials in alternate countries, and U of Nebraska being the trial epicenter. Is there any China data?

The ‘smoker’ classification allegedly includes anyone who’s ever smoked. Allegedly, if you’ve ever smoked ace-2 receptors in the lungs are altered. No specifics if that’s only related to tobacco, tho. No clue if that year in college smoking 40 years ago applies, either.
It’s all just lumped under ‘smoker’ like a safe-space for virtue-signalers. Never-minding that ace receptors are found in several organs. Or that ‘pulmonary disease’ underlying is related is about 6 percent mortality - the same range as cancer and high blood pressure - versus diabetes at 8 and heart disease at 10 according to the recent risk chart at Business Insider

California announces first coronavirus death, bringing US fatalities to at least 11
County officials said the patient was likely exposed during international travel from Feb. 11 to Feb. 21 on a Princess cruise ship that departed from San Francisco and traveled to Mexico. Placer County officials said the patient arrived at Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center by ambulance on Feb. 27 and was in isolation at the hospital.
Placer County, which is in northern California near Sacramento, is monitoring ten health care workers from the hospital, the county said, and five emergency responders who were exposed prior to the patient being placed in isolation. The county said none of them are exhibiting symptoms. The county said other passengers from the cruise may have also been exposed.
HEB grocery stores limiting customer purchases of cleaning and germ prevention products.
They were on their way from Hawaii to Ensenada, MX, but are now going directly to SF. For some legal reason, cruise ships are required to stop in one non-US port. That is being waived for this cruise. I have not heard anything about pulling into San Pedro, and it doesn’t look like they have been there recently.

US doesnt have enough face masks needed for a full-blown coronavirus pandemic, HHS official says
... WHO estimates that, each month, 89 million medical masks will be required for the COVID-19 response, 76 million examination gloves and 1.6 million goggles, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of WHO, said separately at a news conference at the organizations Geneva headquarters. He said manufacturers need to increase personal protective gear supplies by 40%.

“Cadre at Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Fort Benning, Georgia; Fort Sill, Oklahoma; and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri spent time training over the weekend practicing screening and quarantining possibly ill trainees”
Iteresting. Has it occurred to anyone that smokers may be more susceptible because they are constantly putting something in their mouths?
