One issue we’re having here...we have no institutional knowledge of a pandemic like this in any of our ‘institutions’.

The last generation that had something like this would have been in charge in the 1918 flu pandemic. Let’s say they were in their 40’s and 50’s. probably born after the civil war until 1880 or so.

These people probably retired in the depression through the end of WWII.

Their direct reports probably were gone by the late 60’s/early 70’s.

Before then, every public health official had epidemic/pandemic knowledge with a ‘scary microbe’.

The original sin was the decision to center the whole COVID19 strategy on containment. That focused testing on travel, to exclusion of other sources of transmission.

Which in turn made it look like containment was working, while blinding them to fact that it had already failed.

A little bit of truth here. I think the CDC and FDA drop the ball on testing making Trump look bad.

President Trump was smart to make VP Pence point on this. VP Pence has deregulate the process to get the testing kits out.

Plus I heard President Trump is going to address the under insured cost of testing. Nice recovery

You said that with a strait face? The same CDC that ignored the spread of the infection in the US and failed provide testing? The CDC that counsels healthy people not wear safety masks? The CDC who failed to recognize the aerosolized nature of the virus?

I think the nursing home is a big moment . We lost containment there and see the impact in the Seattle metro unfold.

Oh you had containment there - containment of the virus in one closed space.

The first deaths in the nursing home have now been back dated at least a week. The viral load in that place had been pumping in the heating ducts for weeks.

When the firemen finally entered to remove the first patient, they were entering a virus-plagued hell. They had no idea.

I put this on the CDC for their effed up testing kits.

Prayers to all to the elderly and staff there and and all of the first responders.

I saw photos of there sad quarantined outfits
no wonder the fireman got exposed.

Yes , these deaths are the product of the CDC incompetence.
