Bernie will be a dumpster fire of epic proportions. Throughout modern history “socialism” has made inroads during times of economic malaise and strife. It is easier to sell socialism to a miserable populace.
We are enjoying an unprecedented period of prosperity and peace.
Bad timing.
Another consideration - much of Bernie’s popularity is based on his populism and criticism of the elites. Trump used this same message to claim the mantle of championing the working class. He not only stole Bernie’s message, he has fulfilled his promises and made life better for the working class American!
What does this all leave Bernie with? He is facing his last chance for his ideas to win against a massive wave of prosperity and an opponent who has taken his most popular shtick.
