There was a time back in the Clinton impeachment days when Matthews actually gave a damn about the country and blasted Clinton for his disgraceful behavior. He worked for Tip O’Neil and spoke about how there once was bi-partisan decency. Granted of course the Democrats always ran the House in those days. He got looney after W won.
He was only good until around 2002.
There was never much cordiality, even then. There is a mythology built up around Reagan and Tip O’Neal and all that. The Rats have been snakes all along. Sure it’s worse now, but that’s to be expected.
