WHO just said that Corvid 19 doesn’t transmit as efficiently as the flu and only 1% of cases were asymptomatic based on China data

Correction: 1% of the positive cases were people with no sypmtoms

Even if _this_ part were true the disease would be a total nothingburger.

If anyone wants to follow a country that is doing it right, and therefore keeping it under control should watch Singapore. We are way behind the curve at this point, but it does give me hope.

Sorry. Thanks for enlightening us. It seemed to make sense given the type of material in a vacuum bag!

it’s an interesting dilemma

These folks are Princess cruisers. So they had 14 days or more on the Princess, another 15 now days at Lackland. That’s a month.

Most people hyperalerted to the disease such as the cruisers are, are self- concerned enough to tough out a 30 day quarantine. But if you’re going to add another 7 or 14 days to that, now we’re talking serious disruption to their lives. Who’s watching their homes, or their pets, or children, their mailbox? Who’s mowing the lawn, picking up the sunday paper off the driveway and watering the shrubs? Do they have a job to go back to? How much as this drained their savings? Who’s going to compensate them for another 7 to 14 days of not being able to earn?

What about the psychological aspects of living bare-bones for a month or longer without many comfort items? Or human touch? Of not being trusted to continue a month-long quarantine in their own homes? Of being treated as a walking virus instead of human beings that are our fellow citizens?

Two negatives more than 24-hours apart was the standard for ‘clear’ until it suddenly wasn’t. The first rotation of quarantines from Wuhan were released after 14 days and 2 clears and they have no relapses to date. But now it’s 3 negatives. Are two negatives and one positive indicative of identifying a super-spreader? What if it becomes 4 or 6 weeks? How do we handle long-term quarantines? How do the quarantined handle that emotionally speaking?

The high temperature today is 91 degrees in Singapore...

(My point is that while I agree they are doing a great job, I believe the weather _matters_.)

“weather matters”

So does the proximity.

Huge difference from across the ocean.

I poured hand sanitizer on the cart when I went a couple days ago. Our grocery store has put out wipes but I thought the same if they’re sanitizing or not. The trash can by them has to be manhandled to get open so you’re covered in germs after disposing of the wipes.

I’ve also been putting my hair up but there’s so much electricity in the air during this time of year it still flies around so always touching my face. Also, have been wearing glasses.

I noticed all their positive cases are in isolation at the hospital. I don’t see too many self isolating

That only takes care of outside fomites.

Indoor ones are a different matter.

Singapore is spotless, so maybe those aren’t as big a deal as elsewhere in airconditioned societies.

I *suspect* that since they’re only 1deg from the equator their vitamin d3 levels might have something to do with it.

Or not.

I also suspect that any confirmations are pretty immediately put in antivirals, just because.

I await the inevitable avalanche of medical papers from this.

That’s a good point....who knows what’s even in (or NOT in) those grocery store wipes?

Best to have our own.

I’m like you, though, don’t likely need to make a grocery store run, ANY time SOON :)
