Who gave her the authority to make a comment about it to begin with? And didnt anybody check her comment first?

I think she was invited (I wonder by whom.../sarc) with others to testify to Congress. I believe that was the beginnings of the CAMPAIGN OF HYSTERIA.
But whether she was invited, her comments to Congress should have been cleared by a superior. She should have been told how far she should go with any responses she made...certainly not sharing her own, personal opinions, but the opinion of the whole of CDC. She was representing the total CDC, not just herself, and shouldn't have made comments or opinions that were solely hers. That's not what she was there for.
