Really, they don’t have any better options. Americans won’t accept China-style quarantines and half of Wuhan had already flown in and out of US airports before the threat was fully recognized. If we have major outbreaks of course Democrats are going to try to blame Trump - but their own stupid immigration policies left the door open and that fact will have be hung around their necks by every Republican office-holder.
Intelligent citizens have to prepare themselves.
Our “Superior healthcare” system, will cease being superior about a week into real numbers in a large urban setting.
People have to stop reading our own propaganda. And start looking at the reality.
It seems I have to write this every time...it doesn’t mean you are going to die. Not many people will die.

Trump said there are already planned to quarantine U.S. cities in place.

I’ve kind of concluded the same after calculating the number of people coming here from China and elsewhere in Asia on a daily basis (something like 50,000, or more). Knock it down to 5,000 and the virus would still get in. Knock it down to 500 a day, and the virus would still, eventually get in. Knock it down to zero, but you still have the rest of the world not shutting down travel, and so it comes in from Italy, for example.
The only chance to stop it was when it was first detected in Wuhan, and China tried to do that quietly (at first), and failed. At that point it was game over for the rest of the world.
I still don’t agree with that policy, as delaying the onset would have at least bought some time, but here we are.
