An Israeli company has developed a kit for precise diagnosis of the coronavirus.

There must be fifty companies manufacturing test kits now.
Does it include garlic and Holy Water?
“Does it include garlic and Holy Water?”
Need to include those little Italian red peppers.

It includes Matzah balls as a major component.
Of course. Israel is the best.
Yeah - but it seems that many were giving a lot of false positives...would be nice to know that the test kit will giver accurate results.
Don't use it. Israel is racist./sBring Out Your DeadBrought to you by the I'd rather die crowd...
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Someone should tell the CDC...
And a lot of them.
Obviously this will never happen in a m*slim country. Too busy raping women, slicing heads, yelling “allahu akhbar” and throwing gays off high buildings.
God I love Matza ball soup. When I’m in Tarzana I always stop at Mort’s deli and get a bowl of Matza ball soup. Even for breakfast.
I had to cancel my trip to Israel on Monday. There is panic over there.
I’m living in a hick town in Gush Etzion, and haven’t noticed any panic per se. Of course around Ben Gurion International, that would be understandable.
None of which can be used in this country because of our FDA.
No, but I think you do have to wet your finger, turn around three times and hold it up to the wind.
Israel has cutting edge pharma R&D, this is good news.
My relatives on a kibbutz near Haifa cannot welcome visitors for now.
Well this sounds more promising than some vaccine that other company claims they can develop in 2 weeks and start dosing people in 90 days. Unless it cures the afflicted I can’t see people running out to inject themselves with some brand new little-tested anti-viral drug because they are afraid of catching it. We gonna inject ourselves with brand new stuff every time some new mutation of a virus appears? Doesn’t sound like a good idea.
The problem, as always, is knowing who is carrying the virus. People can carry it and not show symptoms. If this can quickly and accurately detect the virus, and be scaled into mass production, it could be of good use. It would be a hassle, but we could at least quarantine incoming travelers and test everyone coming in. It would slow things down a bit - though I concede it is very early and we don’t know yet how fast this is going to spread from here if at all.
There’s a bit of hysteria in the media. There is an obvious risk of this thing getting worse but it is very early. The stock market is in a panic because investors fear either that the fear of a wider outbreak or a spike in known infections is going to slow world trade. If I had to travel on a plane, I would be a little worried but it appears the airline industry employees aren’t taking too many precautions, they aren’t demanding any federal action and if anyone would be most at risk it would be them. I lost my fear of flying in turbulence one day on a plane that was violently bouncing around the sky, I looked over across the aisle and saw a pilot dead-heading his way home and he was fast asleep while the rest of us were gripping our armrests. I realized if a pilot wasn’t afraid of that turbulence then I had no reason to either. So I’ll panic when the airline/airport employees start panicking.
I don’t think we should over-react at this point but if we had to the solution would not be too hard. It would be tough, but we simply have to shut things down for a couple of weeks and let the virus die off on its own.
