I used to love reading those books and he had a lot of good information in them to keep you interested.

They never found the right actor to bring that franchise to the screen which is too bad.

There may have been a thing with Cussler injecting himself into the process too much.

Who would be the prime candidate for that daunting role?

Plus, you'd have to get beat up a lot. On the other hand, the babes would be magnificent.

So true. Matthew McConaughey, while a good actor, was not a good Dirk Pitt. And the guys they picked for Rudy and Admiral Sandecker were terrible choices.

Same is true for the Jack Reacher (Lee Child) movies. Tom Cruise is a terrible Jack Reacher. I have discussions from time to time on who would be a good Jack. Maybe Jason Statham, Aaron Eckhart, or maybe even John Cena. Anybody but Cruise. Not saying he is a bad actor, he just ain't Jack Reacher.

Did these casting people even read the books?
